Previsico partners with National Gas in new innovation project

Previsico are very excited to be partnering with National Gas as a part of their new Network Innovation Allowance (NIA) projects that have kicked off under National Gas’ Automation and Measurement umbrella.

The role of climate change in risk assessments is both ever-growing and ever-changing. In the case of flood risk, assessments become increasingly obsolete the older they are, and constantly carrying out assessment studies is both costly, and only a stop-gap measure. A solution is required that continuously performs the risk assessment based on the most up-to-date information.

National Gas has partnered with Previsico to deploy a continuous flood risk monitoring and alert system across four sites on the national transmission system.

Previsico’s world-leading solution combines forecasts and nowcasts of weather, drainage and land use with real-time IoT sensor data to produce 48-hour continuous flood forecasts, alerting site operatives to the need to take preventative action.

The short-term proof of concept project will again seek to inform a business case for a wider, longer-term deployment in the medium term.
