You’ll be joining a highly skilled team of flood modellers, geospatial developers, hydrometerologists, software engineers and forecasting specialists.

The Role

As a Flood Modeller, you will take a leading role on validating flood forecasting, undertaking bespoke flood modelling projects and processing datasets for our global expansion. You are expected to automate the validation process and respond to internal and external requests in a timely fashion.

You will also contribute to R&D projects in the area of flood modelling.

There will be opportunities to work on various parts of our technology stack, working with flood modellers, hydrometrologists, software engineers and devops team, in a fast-paced environment.

Additionally, you will:

  • Supervise junior GIS analysts and quality-control their outputs
  • Write and support innovation grants
  • Write project reports

About You

To be considered as a Flood Modeller, you will need:

– A minimum of two years’ experience in flood modelling using 1D and/or 2D software packages
– Experience of independently delivering flood modelling projects
– Experience of sourcing and processing large geospatial datasets for flood modelling and flood risk assessments
– Python coding experience in geoprocessing
– Experience with common geospatial processing Python libraries
– Experience working in an agile business environment
– Excellent GIS skills and a proven record in delivering data products
– An understanding of flood modelling and hydrology
– An understanding of data requirements and availability for numerical flood modelling
– Good knowledge of geospatial statistics
– An MSc degree or equivalent
