We currently have an exciting opportunity for an IoT Technical Specialist to join our growing team. As a technology start-up we are looking for a proactive and dynamic individual with experience of environmental monitoring or environmental science or in a relevant field, and who is eager to help support communities and organisations globally improve their resilience to flood. The IoT Technical Specialist will support the IoT Systems Manager in all work relating to sensor solutions development and implementation.

Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:

  • Being a subject matter expert on the technologies (sensor and forecasting with emphasis on the former) utilised and delivered across the business.
  • Supporting the IoT Systems manager in the development and implementation of the company’s sensor network, in the UK (United Kingdom) and other geographies, as appropriate.
  • Helping scope and deliver technical solutions to environmental monitoring problems.
  • Interpreting, analysing and processing large environmental datasets.
  • Bid and technical report writing, as appropriate.
  • Developing comprehensive understanding of the sensor market and keeping a tight handle on emerging technologies and how they could feed into the company’s operations.
  • Tightly align with internal and external sales & marketing teams to ensure Previsico have a robust commercial offering for sensors. Work will include the creation/co-creation of sales/marketing materials and support of sales teams – providing advice and guidance on suitable targets and sales strategies – as appropriate.
  • Support pre-sales activities with potential clients, advising them on the benefits of sensors and their technical requirements, including consenting requirements.
  • Support and deliver post-sales activities with customers, helping them understand and gain maximum benefit from implemented solutions, delivering excellent customer service.
  • Help nurture relationships with key clients and suppliers.

Person specification

You should demonstrate competence in most (preferably all) of the following:

  • Experience of using sensors for environmental monitoring (experience in and/or knowledge of flood and/or hydrological monitoring techniques highly desirable)
  • Experience in the handling, processing and analysis of environmental datasets (preferably hydrological data sets)
  • Experience in report writing (experience in bid writing desirable)
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Passion for reducing the impact of natural hazards, globally
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creativity and enthusiasm to overcome challenges and create new opportunities
  • A tenacity and drive to meet or exceed targets
  • Interest in the latest science and technology
