Previsico are flood forecasting specialists enabling people and organisations to minimise the impact of flooding. Backed with VC investment and underpinned by two decades of research at Loughborough University, Previsico’s world leading solution is used by insurers, businesses and government to reduce their losses. Our mission is to be the leading global provider of cutting-edge flood prediction that saves lives and livelihoods whilst significantly reducing the cost of flooding. Having launched in January, 2019, we have a growing team of ~25 people with offices in Loughborough and London.

The opportunity

We are recruiting for a Business Development Manager to join our growing team. As a fast growing Insurtech we are looking for a go-getter who is eager to learn everything there is about flood forecasting and how to improve resilience to floods globally. You will be focused on selling our services into insurance and commercial clients both directly and through partners. The role will be primarily focused on the UK, with a need to collaborate with colleagues internationally, dependent on client need. We are looking to build our presence further in the US marketplace.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working with our COO and CEO to rapidly grow sales in the UK and US insurance market
  • Developing detailed client-centric plans to help clients achieve their strategic imperatives
  • Manage partner sales channels to drive new business sales and create effective channel partnerships
  • Work with marketing team to develop and deliver partner co-marketing, sales, and enablement programs.
  • Generating new sales leads that are developed through the sales pipeline into new clients
  • Building a relationship with sales prospects and giving prompt attention to their requests
  • Organising and tracking sales relationships and ensuring targets are met
  • Understanding Previsico products to drive holistic client engagement
  • Keeping up to date on the latest technological developments in flood forecasting, resilience building and the insurance sector
  • Liaise with the marketing team to develop the marketing plan and its execution

Person Specification

Applications are welcome from candidates that meet the following criteria:

  • Proven experience of 4 or more years in building direct and partner relationships to generate sales, preferably in the insurance sector
  • Proficiency in sales pipeline management
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • The ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines
  • Creativity and enthusiasm to create new opportunities
  • A tenacity and drive to seek new business and exceed targets
  • Excellent presentation, written and verbal skills plus a personable telephone manner
  • Passion for reducing the impact of natural hazards globally
  • Interest in the latest science and technology

Pay and working arrangements

  • Salary will be £60-80,000 per annum plus commission (depending on experience) and an equity stake in the company.
  • The position is based either in our Loughborough or London office although we will consider flexible working arrangements. The applicant will need to have the right to work in the UK.
