The opportunity

We are now looking for a GIS  analyst to join the team and help us scale our flood forecasting technology into a world-leading solution that helps people and organisations better respond to flooding. As an early stage start-up we need a higher performer with a can-do attitude who is happy to jump in and create amazing solutions with us.

The position will primarily involve geospatial analysis to help calibrate our flood forecasting technology, although there will be many opportunities for growth within the company as it continues to expand. We’ll tailor these opportunities to your professional development. You will work alongside the development team and our Chief Scientific Officer Prof. Yu and flood modelling team. There will be many opportunities to develop your skills and plenty of support on offer.

Roles will include:

  • Sourcing and organising geospatial data to help power our flood forecasting software
  • Using ArcGIS or QGIS to process data for flood modelling purposes
  • Working closely with our flood modelling team to set-up, calibrate and validate our model for  regions

Job specification

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Geography, Engineering, or related discipline and will have a passion for disaster risk reduction using geospatial technologies. The successful candidate will have the following core skills:

  • Experience in using ArcGIS or other mapping software such as QGIS
  • Understanding of hydrological and hydraulic processes
  • Good organisational and report writing skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience in flood modelling
  • Experience in Python coding

Pay and working arrangements

Salary will be from £18,000-£22,000 per annum (depending on experience) plus an equity stake in the company. We will also offer numerous training and development opportunities to help build you experience and skills.

The position is based in our Loughborough office (Holywell Enterprise Park) although we will consider flexible working arrangements and we have an office in London (Old Street). The applicant will need to have the right to work in the UK.
